The Club

Boston Aero Club is based at Boston Aerodrome - established circa 1935 and once home to local crop spraying aircraft and flight tourism operations.

The membership consists of pilots of light aircraft (GA), microlights - both fixed wing and flexwing, helicopters and paramotors all of whom have a keen interest in all aspects of aviation and we welcome anyone with similar interests. Come along and see what we do - you never know you may get hooked.

Passenger Flights

We are not allowed, as a condition of our licences issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, to take fare paying passengers in our aircraft - only commercial operators are permitted to do so.

Air experience flights or trial lessons can be arranged at nearby airfields :-

AAA Microlights http://www.aaamicrolight.com/ Chatteris (Near March)

Fly365 http://www.fly365.co.uk/ Wickenby (Near Market Rasen)

Our aircraft operate under a permit to fly and as such the licensing requirements, maintenance regime as well as passenger insurance is not at the same level as that required for commercial passenger transport operations - this is not to say our aircraft are unsafe (otherwise we wouldn't fly them) only that a different set of rules and standards apply.

We are permitted to take passengers on an individual flight cost share basis where a pilot's licence and insurance conditions allow (we often take family and friends), but any such arrangements must be made with the pilot concerned, not through the club and is a private concern between those parties.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome - come along to the field on a day we are flying - please park on the right before the barrier - and introduce yourself - we are happy to show anyone around and perhaps introduce you to our world. We usually fly at weekends and sometimes on weekday evenings - weather permitting of course.

Vehicles which do not belong to club members are not permitted beyond the entrance barrier for insurance purposes. Due to the position of the hangar this area is 'airside' and so please take care when walking across - aircraft may be moving or starting up.

If you wish to contact us direct please look at the Contacts Page

It is not all aviation, members come from a variety of backgrounds and we have an emerging social scene as well. Check out the pictures from our last fly-in/hangar dance on our Club News page.

Complaints

We endeavour to act safely and responsibly at all times. By the nature of our sport noise is inevitably a factor and to this end we try to minimise the impact of our activities to local residents and businesses.

There are certain established routes (circuits) to which we must conform when leaving or approaching the airfield which will vary according to aircraft type and prevailing weather conditions. These procedures are in place for flight safety reasons.

If you have any concerns please contact us and we will try our best to address any issue.

You do not have to identify yourself unless you wish to do so but please let us know your approximate location so that we can act. Please also bear in mind that the airspace over Boston is not used exclusively by us - there are lots of aircraft, both civil and military in the area most of which have no connection with us at all.
